Summer Terms 1 and 2 ‘Hidden Woods’

In the Topic for the summer term, we will be continuing to build on the science work we covered last term on habitats. This term we will be investigating forest habitats around the world. We will use Mike’s Meadow to investigate deciduous woodland habitats. We are also contrasting and comparing this to rainforests around the world.

We will create natural art, make maps and investigate a variety of natural habitats. We are going to be lucky enough to engage in a workshop with a local artist who uses collage to create beautiful bug designs and hopefully get the chance to work again with wildlife photographer Aleks Domanski. This work has been made possible by engagement with a community project connected to the Beaver Festival in the village and will hopefully facilitate artwork for Bathampton Meadows as well as a chance to visit our local outdoor spaces.

We will use our trip to Westonbirt Arboretum to build on our work in science and geography. This is a great outdoors topic for the summer term.
