Autumn Terms 1&2 – ‘Let The Sparks Fly’

This term we are covering the Topic Let the Sparks Fly. This will involve looking at The Great Fire of London including looking at buildings which are there now and those that were there then. We will think about current architects and what was learnt about building after the fire. We will be visited by the Fire Brigade, and we will have a workshop related to The Great Fire of London. There will be a lot of practical activities and lots of art and DT (the class love building and construction so we will definitely be building on this!) In the second part of the topic, we will look at historical figures such as Samuel Pepys and Guy Fawkes. We will investigate the Gunpowder Plot and fireworks. This is a great topic, and I am sure the children will really enjoy learning all about these times in history.
