Autumn Terms 1 and 2 – Swords and Sandals
We will go on an exciting journey back nearly 2,000 years to discover the world of the Romans. Beginning in AD 43, when the Roman Emperor Claudius invaded Britain, we will find out how the powerful Roman army helped to build one of the largest empires in history. We will explore what Britain was like before the Romans arrived, why they decided to invade, and how Britain became part of the Roman Empire. Along the way, we will learn about famous people such as Boudica, investigate amazing Roman buildings and bathhouses, and discover what archaeological evidence can tell us about life in Roman Britain. We will also explore the lasting impact of the Romans and uncover some of the ways their ideas and achievements still influence life in Britain today.
