Autumn Terms 1 & 2 – ‘Let Sparks Fly’

‘We start our Cherry Class journey with a very exciting topic- ‘Let the Sparks Fly’. This topic is always one that the children find greatly engaging and they tend to develop a real curiosity around key events in history. We will explore and investigate how the Great Fire of London started in 1666 and how this impacted the lives of people and how it changed London. We have arranged for a drama company to come in Term 1 and give an exciting workshop to Year 1 and 2 based on the Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys! Later, in Term 2 we learn about fire safety, firework safety and why we have Bonfire Night. We will have the Bath fire service coming in one morning to give Cherry Class a workshop on their role and responsibility in being a firefighter and hopefully we can have a go at sitting in their fire engine! We will look forward to welcoming you in to Cherry Class for an open classroom event so you can see all the amazing learning we will have done in our topic lessons!’
