RE and Collective Worship

Religious Education (RE) at Batheaston Church School

At Batheaston Church School, our RE curriculum reflects our vision of “Together, Achieving Our Best – Every Child, Every Day” and our Christian foundation of “Living life in all its fullness.” We want every child to grow in understanding, respect and curiosity as they learn about faith, belief and the wider world.

RE is taught weekly in every class, giving children regular opportunities to explore and discuss the big questions about life, beliefs, values and the world around them. Through open, thoughtful discussion, children learn to listen carefully, share their ideas confidently, and appreciate different viewpoints.

Our RE teaching:

  • Helps children understand Christianity and other major world religions
  • Encourages them to think deeply about questions such as “What is important in life?”“How do people express their beliefs?”, and “Why do different people see the world differently?”
  • Promotes respect, compassion and curiosity
  • Supports children to develop their own sense of identity, beliefs and values
  • Encourages them to live out our school values and vision in everyday life

By exploring these important ideas together, we help children grow into thoughtful, understanding and respectful young people who can flourish and “live life in all its fullness.”
