Summer Term 1 ‘Magical Seeds and Traditional Tales’

This term, we are stepping into the magical world of traditional tales—where beanstalks reach the clouds, brave little pigs design their own homes, and a girl in a red cloak travels through both real and imagined forests. Through the joy of storytelling, we will explore meaningful links across the curriculum. From investigating how Jack’s beanstalk might grow in real life and learning how to care for plants, to designing, building and evaluating new homes fit for the Three Little Pigs, our stories will spark curiosity and creativity. We’ll also journey with Little Red Riding Hood as we use and create both real and make-believe maps, discovering the wonderful connections between tales, science, art, design, and geography. This storytelling adventure promises to nurture imagination while deepening understanding across our learning.

Please see weekly timetable for Apple Class. This is a general overview of the days throughout the week.

Cosy Time (Guided Reading) takes place in groups throughout the week.

Timetable is subject to change due to events, visits or trips taking place, or weather conditions (Mike’s Meadow).

Our Vision Statement for EYFS at Batheaston Church School

At Batheaston Church School we endeavour to promote a love of learning; where interests and talents are nurtured and challenged, empathy is fostered and friendships formed. A child entering Apple Class will embark on a creative, engaging learning adventure. Our environment is rich in first-hand experiences with time given to dream, aspire and achieve. Independence is encouraged and risk-taking is celebrated within safe and secure surroundings.

As a team we are passionate about the education of young children. Activities planned provide a wide range of opportunities to enable children to play, work, collaborate, apply skills learnt, test ideas and narrate their inner imaginings. We aim to build children’s academic, social and emotional well-being so that they can thrive both within our walls and the world beyond.
