Meet the Headteacher

Welcome to Batheaston Church School

OUR VISION

Our vision “Together, achieving our best – every child, every day” provides a clear and purposeful driver for the curriculum by shaping both its intent and its day‑to‑day implementation.

Together

The curriculum is designed to promote a strong sense of community, collaboration and belonging. Learning opportunities are carefully planned to encourage pupils to work together, develop positive relationships and respect one another. Cross-curricular themes, collective worship links and enrichment activities reinforce shared values and help pupils understand their role within the school community and beyond. This collective approach ensures that learning is not isolated, but meaningful and rooted in shared experiences.

Achieving our best

High expectations underpin the curriculum for both pupils and staff. Subject leaders ensure progression is carefully sequenced so that knowledge and skills build over time, enabling pupils to achieve well. Teaching is reflective and responsive, using assessment effectively to identify next steps and adapt learning. The curriculum encourages resilience, ambition and a growth mindset, supporting pupils to strive for excellence while recognising individual starting points.

Every child

The vision ensures that inclusivity is central to curriculum design. Learning is adapted to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, those who are disadvantaged, and those who may need additional emotional or academic support. Targeted interventions, differentiated teaching and a strong pastoral curriculum ensure that barriers to learning are identified and addressed promptly. Pupil voice also informs curriculum development, ensuring it reflects the needs, interests and experiences of the children.

Every day

Consistency and equity are key. The curriculum is carefully planned so that high-quality learning experiences are available to all pupils, every day, across all subjects. There is a strong focus on attendance, engagement and well-being, recognising that regular access to learning is essential for success. Daily routines, clear expectations and a well-embedded curriculum structure ensure continuity and security for pupils.

Impact

As a result, the curriculum is coherent, inclusive and aspirational. It reflects the school’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, aligns closely with its values, and supports pupils to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. The vision acts as a constant reference point, guiding curriculum decisions and ensuring that learning remains purposeful, relevant and child-centred.

Best wishes

Sally
