This term Willow Class will be learning all about Antarctica and the Arctic in our Geography topic Poles Apart. We will be learning about the 7 continents of the world and the 5 oceans but narrowing down our knowledge to the Poles. We will look at the Polar Habitat, we will investigate which animals live at each pole and we will create dioramas of one of the habitats in Science and DT.
The children will learn about Captain Scott, Matthew Henson and Ernest Shackleton as polar explorers.
We will begin to look at mapping and will compare our own weather in the UK with that of the polar regions. The children will use directional language and start to use a compass. They will learn to use atlases, globes and maps.
