Spring Terms 1 & 2 – ‘Poles Apart’

During the spring terms we are going to be exploring and learning about the North and South poles! We will be learning about the weather, habitats, animals that live there and where they are situated on a world map. In the first term we will be using atlases to discover the countries of the UK, the worlds continents and the North and South Pole as well as learning how compasses work. We will also learn about the life and adventures of Ernest Shackleton and his expedition to the  Antarctic. In the second spring term we will learn about David Hempleman-Adams who lives in the South West and his amazing achievement climbing all  the highest peaks in all seven continents. The children will also be using their creativity to re-create an inspired painting by Kenojuak Ashevak.
